DIVISIONAL INFORMATION
NVVA comprises five Divisions:
• SELECT • select.director@nvva.com
Draws top players from each age bracket to form a dedicated group of volleyball
players aspiring to play at the highest levels nationally. There is a significant
commitment in terms of practice time and travel. Due to the large numbers of
applicants for these teams, players may be asked to limit outside activities
that would interfere. The Select season will run from December into June or
early July, culminating at a National event. Some age groups will attend several
National Qualifying events, as well as other top-level overnight tournaments.
Last season's teams played in over 200 uniformed games on over 20 dates. • FAIRFAX • fairfax.director@nvva.com
Draws players from all of Fairfax County who will have numerous opportunities
to play. The Fairfax Division is projected to have almost 20 teams. Players
will receive top-of-the-line instruction from a seasoned coaching staff. Last
season saw all of the Fairfax teams in each age group "medal" in regional
action. Several teams won divisional titles at the Regional Championships. Several
teams had over 125 uniformed games. The Fairfax Division will continue to be
the host of several events this year.
** NEW ** to Fairfax this year will be a top-tier team in each of the 16s,
17s, and 18s age groups. These highly-skilled players will attend a National
Qualifying event for exposure to a higher level of play and will be seen by
potential college recruiters. • LOUDOUN • loudoun.director@nvva.com
Fed by a very successful house program, the Loudoun Division will field more
than 10 teams this season, covering all age groups. The Loudoun Division has
numerous returning coaches and will have excellent practice and playing facilities.
The Loudoun Division will host several tournaments this season. Loudoun teams
have enjoyed outstanding success over the years.
** NEW ** to Loudoun this year, if tryout attendance warrants, will be a top-tier
team in each of the 16s, 17s, and 18s age groups. These highly-skilled players
will attend a National Qualifying event for exposure to a higher level of play
and will be seen by potential college recruiters. • SKYLINE • skyline.director@nvva.com
The Skyline Division, in its second year, draws players from many strong high
school and middle school programs in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.
Some of these high schools are Millbrook, James Wood, Strasburg, Hedgesville,
and Sherando High School. Skyline is carrying three teams this season, a 15’s,
16’s, and 18’s team. The coaching staff at Skyline provides strong
instruction by a coaching staff that has helped foster the growth of volleyball
in the western part of Virginia. The Skyline program is young and is looking
forward to expanding each year. This year teams will attend the Monument Classic,
Shamrock Fest, and the East Coast Championship in Pittsburgh. • BOYS • boys.director@nvva.com
In our continuing effort to expand boys' volleyball in Fairfax and Loudoun
Counties, NVVA is making an aggressive effort to increase the number of boys'
teams this year. Under new leadership, NVVA plans to have 14 & Under teams
in Loudoun and Fairfax, with teams in the 15/16s, 17s, and possibly 18s age
groups. Practice space for the older teams hopefully will be centrally located
for all players. Last year saw outstanding performances from both teams, which
included a second place finish in a National Championship. Like last year, most
tournaments will be held in the southern part of Virginia.
