LOUDOUN YOUTH VOLLEYBALL
Loudoun Youth Volleyball (LYV) is an affiliate of Loudoun
County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
(PRCS). LYV is open to all 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade residents
of Loudoun County (Fall 2007). LYV is a recreation league
and takes all registrants, provided there are enough coaching
volunteers at each school. Beginners are welcome and encouraged
to sign-up. LYV has separate leagues for girls and boys, with
teams aligned by middle schools.
Girls will compete in one of three different leagues a 6th-grade-only
league, a house league (mixed grades), and a select league
(mixed grades). Boys will compete in a single-division boys-only
league. If there are not enough boys registered at each middle
school in the County to form a team, those boys will be offered
the opportunity to play on a boys team at another middle school
within the County.
All players are encouraged to attend one of the skills assessments.
Female players of any age who wish to be considered for the
girls select team at their school MUST attend the skills assessment.
Assessments will be considered a tryout for the select teams.
Practices are held twice a week throughout the season (days
and times to be determined by the individual coach’s availability).
Practices are held at each team’s middle school, usually between
6:00 to 9:00 pm. Practices will begin the week of September
10, 2007. Matches will be held on Saturdays. Teams will play
“double-headers” with matches held back-to-back.
Each match has a 50-minute time limit. Games will begin on
September 22, 2007.
The season ends with a single-elimination tournament during
the weekend of November 10, 2007.
