Club volleyball is a nationally organized youth volleyball network that serves as an avenue for players age 10 (and even younger) to 18 to receive advanced training and competition on local, regional, and national stages. Club volleyball is designed for players who want to strengthen their volleyball skills and for those who would hope to play in college and would like exposure to collegiate coaches.

Teams play in one, two, or three day tournaments that are sanctioned by one of three organizations:  USA Volleyball (USAV), the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) or the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA).  Most multi-day tournaments give teams the opportunity to play a minimum of three matches during pool play (days before final day) and on the final day a team plays until either they lose or win the bracket.

What are the different teams at NVVA and what are their time commitments?

Travel teams are our most competitive teams.  They are made up of girls with the strongest skill level and the desire to train and push themselves to their highest level of play.  Of all levels, this is the most demanding.

Select teams are also highly competitive, but do not have the goal of attending national competitions at the end of the year.  This level is perfect for the competitive athlete that may not have as much experience in the game as a Travel level player.  It is also appropriate for a multi-sport athlete that cannot devote the time required of  a Travel level player.

Regional teams are for athletes wanting to play on a club team that provides the very best coaching, training, and competition, but within the confines of a local/regional competition schedule (No competition further than 90 minutes away).

NOVA Division is for athletes wanting to play on a team that provides the very best coaching, training, and competition, but within the confines of the state of Virginia. Teams will represent the Northern Virginia region in the Virginia Youth League which consists of tournament style play at the Virginia Volleyball Center and at Richmond Volleyball Club against other teams with a similar level of play.

What should I do if I am not ready for club volleyball?

You have a couple of option including our In-House Leagues and camps and clinics.

Galaxy League

Galaxy is for athletes unable or reluctant to play on a club team because of a lack of skill or time, but have the desire to play club volleyball in the future. Galaxy will practice at the VVC on Mondays and Fridays for a total of 2.5 hours with one final tournament at the end of the season.

Youth Academy

This program is geared for boys and girls age 6-12 that would like to start learning how to play volleyball. The program is divided into different levels and athletes progress according to their skill. This program is a step before Galaxy League.
