DIVISION DESCRIPTION

We believe sports, academics, social and cultural integration, and awareness can create outstanding citizens. We will provide all qualifying athletes willing to put in the work, with the opportunity to reach the highest level of play. Once a part of our program, we require our members to follow academic, social, and athletic standards.

XP teams are competitive teams. They are made up of girls with a strong skill aptitude and the desire to train and push themselves to their highest level of play.

This level has a demanding practice and tournament schedule. Athletes playing at this level have the desire to play in college and playing time is per the discretion of the coaches.

XP Club fees include membership, practice court time, team conditioning, gear package, coaches pay, tournament entry, and hotel costs for athletes (up to 4 per room). The fee does not include transportation fees for players.

Teams will compete in 8-10 tournaments per season including events that require air travel.

TEAM COACHES

Mike Garrison

Head Coach

Coach Garrison has been coaching club volleyball at NVVA since 2010 within the 14’s-17’s age groups. He has also been involved with LYV for over a decade.

Coach Garrison has two daughters who played at NVVA, and one of them just finished her volleyball college career at CNU. He and his wife Stacey live in Ashburn, VA, and both graduated from Virginia Tech.

"Coach Garrison somehow always finds a way to create a great team. He is an expert in maximizing the athlete's talents while ensuring they are enjoying the game," says NVVA President and CEO Rodrigo Gomes.

Assistant Coach

Becky Schneider

Becky is excited to return to NVVA as a coach after playing for the club from 2006 - 2012. She was born and raised in Northern Virginia, playing for Heritage High School (2009 - 2013) in addition to NVVA. She also returned to coach for LYV after graduating from James Madison University (where she played club and intramural). Her main goals for the players are to gain confidence on and off the court, strengthen teamwork in pursuit of shared goals, and promote a lifelong love of the sport!

Becky is currently a geospatial engineer in the DoS/government space after receiving a degree in Geography in 2017.

OPEN TRYOUTS

Every year, we host club volleyball open tryouts for teams that have spots available on their roster.  During tryouts, coaches will be looking for unique characteristics in each player to create a well-rounded team roster. During sign-up, you will be asked what your preferred division is.  Make sure to fully understand the time commitment of each division and team before starting tryouts registration. Our coaches will fully evaluate each athlete to place them on the team that best matches their skill level.

Session 1:

11/05/2023 | 8:00 am - 10:30 am

Session 2:

11/09/2023 | 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

BE PREPARED

Our Club Prep Fall clinics are designed for players that are serious about playing club volleyball. The coaches for the program are from our X-Performance, Travel, Black, and Red divisions, which will give you the opportunity to meet and work with your possible coaches for the next club season. The clinics are divided by age group and you should pick the age group you will be playing club volleyball for next season.

Pick one or multiple dates and we will see you on the courts!

  • What is the best division/level for my athlete?
The main difference between our divisions is the time and financial commitment your family is willing to dedicate to club volleyball. Our coaches we do their best to place each athlete in the most appropriate team, however, ultimately is up to families to choose the team schedule that works best to their family. If you believe your athlete and your family are ready to fully commit to club volleyball, just select "All divisions" during registration and our coaches will know that we can place your athlete at the team that best fits their skill level.
