Corey Haynes Signs to Play With Saint Peter’ College

Corey Haynes, daughter of Maria Haynes, a 6’1” 1st Team National District player has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Division I Saint Peter’s College. Corey is the first volleyball player from the J.E.B. Stuart Raider’s program to play in college. This is especially significant considering that just 5 years ago Corey didn’t consider herself a volleyball player at all. After being lured into a Rookie Raiders volleyball program as an 8th grader she was hooked on the game. At the time the J.E.B. Stuart program was only two years old. In the four years that Corey has been a member of the Raider’s program the team has improved its win/loss record each year and has made the Regional playoffs the last two seasons.

to VA Tech!

Haynes is not only a great person and volleyball player but she is a great student as well. She is a full IB Diploma Candidate, is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and is president of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society. She also serves as the Student Government Association secretary and acts as the Sabre Yearbook editor. Corey has been a catalyst in the development of the J.E.B. Stuart volleyball program over the past 4 years contributing many volunteer hours to helping with fundraisers, team functions and summer camps. She is presently an assistant coach with Varsity Coach Sharon Ponton for a 14U team made up primarily of 8th graders from Glasgow. She has played Junior Olympic Volleyball for FVC, NOVA and currently plays on the 18’s Select team for Northern Virginia Volleyball Club, coached by J.E.B. Stuart assistant coach, Pete Mathis.
